New Perrysburg Firefighters!

The City of Perrysburg recently hired two new Firefighter Paramedics.  Josh Amstutz and Nikole Heckman were hired to replace recently retired Keith Moosman and John Doyle.  Josh was a transfer from the Memphis Fire Department in Tennessee.  And Nicole had worked in the area for various departments such as Maumee and Springfield.  We welcome the two new hires and wish them the best of luck in their careers.  In the photo from left to right is Mayor Nelson Evans, FFP Josh Amstutz, FFP Nikole Heckman, and Chief Jeff Klein.

Last month A couple Perrysburg Firefighters traveled to Lexington MI for this years MDA camp. The camp consists of a couple hundred kids that stay for a week along the beautiful Lake Huron, just to have fun. We were fortunate enough to be invited to share in the experience. We spent the day helping the kids go horse back riding, build crafts, and participate in a parade. It was great to eat lunch with the kids, get to know the counselors, and find out about the ice cream machine that is on 24 hrs a day.......are you kidding. The experience was great and really drove home the reason why firefighters across the nation donate so much time to raise money for finding a cure. Look for us throughout the season as we try to raise money for this worthy cause. In addition, the Labor day telethon is coming soon!

The Miracle!

Gary Court Perrysburg resident who recently survived a cardiac arrest caused by a heart attack with no deficits. The article above briefly explains our new I.C.E protocol we are implementing. We are inducing hypothermia in patients after return of spontaneous circulation (producing a pulse after no pulse was present). Another vital piece of new equipment that is not mentioned in the article is the resQ pod. Many believe the resQ pod is responsible for the person regaining their pulse back. And we can not induce hypothermia until the pulse is returned. Read more about the resQ pod in the equipment blog.
